Fashion Merchandising

As a fashion merchandising student I was able to learn so much about how the fashion industry works as well as get hands on experience. I was able to learn the steps and tasks required for product development, buying, brand development, as well as what it takes to put together an event and attain a social media presence. I was able to work with other fashion merchandising students on projects for all classes giving me some hands on experience in what those positions entail and how to work with others, which also provided me with experience in moderating conflicts, whether they were about specific details of the project or the way group members were handling their responsibilities.

Natalie Martin

As an intern for Natalie Martin I had many responsibilities. I was in charge of basic things like answering the phone and scheduling showroom appointments, but I was also trusted with larger tasks, such as, inventory management and assisting with the management of wholesale accounts. I learned a lot in the three short months I worked for Natalie, like how to manage when product was on backorder, making sure to ease client’s stress and provide options for potential solutions should the product not arrive, or they decide to cancel those pieces. I was able to learn a great deal about the logistical side of fashion works, how to handle wholesale accounts, create solutions to problems that seems unsolvable, and how to manage samples and inventory.

Nordstrom

I started working for Nordstrom in 2016 and have learned quite a lot from my time there. As a rover I had the privilege of working in all departments, from customer service, to assisting the stock team when getting new product. While working in customer service I have learned how to deescalate a situation, while still making sure the customer receives an acceptable solution, As a part of the floor team I was able to learn how to display product so the customer will gravitate towards specific products, while not making things too obvious. While working for Nordstrom I have been able to learn lot about the way a store is run and how to solve problems in customer service as well as problems that arise with stock and floor displays.
